Himalayas in Nepal presents one of the best trekking destinations across the world. This land of snow peaks, epic mountain adventures and exotic sights attract trekkers from various places around the world to experience some of the best trekking adventures. While the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit Trek are often cited as the best trekking options in Himalaya and Nepal, there are a number of other less popular and even less frequented trails that promise a lot more adventure, thrills and excitement for the adventure trekker. These are the treks to watch out for if you want to do something that is relatively unexplored and hence is thrilling. However, there is no replacing the professional skills and expertise of a tour operator to help you experience Himalayas to its fullest.

The Great Himalayan Trail presents the country’s high altitude treks on rock and ice. Opened officially in September 2011, this part of Nepal has 1700km of trekking trails that are divided into 10 different sections that are a feast to your senses. These sections are the best trekking regions in Himalaya and Nepal and should also feature in your bucket list of things to do as early as possible. So, here are the best highlights of unexplored Nepal that you should not miss out on.

1. Dolpa Circuit

The very picturesque Dolpa Circuit is a region that is not so often visited in the Spring and Summer. A beautiful two week trek, the Dolpa Circuit is complete with alpine meadows, high altitude Tibetan plateau, the strikingly blue Phoksundo Lake that is also the highest waterfall in the country and some of the most challenging passes located at least 5000m high. There are tiny villages that offer home-stay options for trekkers. Snow leopards and blue sheep can be spotted in these regions.

2. Numbur Cheese Circuit Trail

About 100 km east of Kathmandu, a 16 day trek takes you to that part of the Himalayas that is rich in culture, sights, flavors and sounds. You can witness cheese making with Yak milk by the local sherpas, take in breathtaking sights of giant rhododendron forests and also experience the culture of different communities in this region.

When you visit these regions, you do not just relish the best trekking in Himalaya and Nepal but also take back sights, experiences, happiness and memories that stand the test of time.
